Eptisa provides consultancy services to improve the wastewater network and treatment in the North East area of Balqa in Jordan

    The Water Authority of Jordan has awarded Eptisa, in consortium with the Jordan Company Consolidated Consultants for Engineering & Environment, the consultancy services contract to carry out the Feasibility Study, Design and preparation of Tender Documents for improving the access to wastewater network and developing its treatment capacity of the North East area of Balqa in Jordan.

      The project is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and is aimed to answer the growing needs of the area population, through rehabilitation and extension of existing infrastructure and the development of new ones, in addition to optimizing the impact of the WWTP on the climate by the optimization of the energy efficiency, techniques and design, the full valorization of hydropower, biogas and solar power potential and the maximal reuse of water.

      In order to carry out its implementation, the contract has been divided into three phases. During the first one, an options study is being carried out to assess the different scenarios of the project. Once the best alternative is selected, a full feasibility study will be carried out in the second phase, including a preliminary design of its components. Finally, during the third phase, the detailed design of the wastewater network with a length of approximately 245 km and the conceptual design of the WWTP will be prepared, as well as the related tender documents. It is expected that the WWTP will serve 285,000 inhabitants and have an average treatment flow of 32,000 m3/ d.
