JSTI ∣ Eptisa has been awarded with the first Road Works Supervision contract in Ethiopia
05-Sep-2017The Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) has awarded Eptisa with the contract Consultancy Services for Construction Supervision for Afdera-Irebti Junction-Ertale Junction-Ahme Ela, Lot I: Afdera-Irbeti Juction-Km 48+000 and Lot II: Km 48+000-Ertale Junction-Ahmed Ela Road Projects. Both lots have a total length of 103 kilometers. The construction period will be 36 months plus an extra year of Defects Liability Period. The project road is located in the North - Eastern part of Ethiopia, in the Afar National Regional State.
Lot I of the Project Road starts at the junction on the Afdera - Irebti AbAla Road which is located at a distance of about 840 km North East of Addis Ababa, and runs generally in the northern direction and terminates at km 48+000. The project also includes construction of spurs roads from the main road to Erta Ale Volcano site, Kusruwad Kebele and Aytura Kebele. The works under this contract consists of construction of 48 Km new main road to DS3 standard with rigid pavement and 31.16 km spur roads to DS5 standard with DBST pavement.
Lot II starts at km 48+000 of the Main Alignment of Afdera - Irebti Junction - Erta Ale Junction - Ahmed Ela Road and runs generally in the northern direction and Ahmed Ela village in Berhale Woreda Sabana Demale Kebele. The works under this contract consists of the construction of 54.806 km main road to DS3 standard with rigid pavement and 1.5m wide granular shoulder on each side. The last 500-meter of the shoulder is made with DBST pavement of 2.5m width on both sides of the road.
The objective of the consulting service is to fulfil to the highest professional standards as the role of the Engineer, as defined under the Works Contract, and to supervise construction of the works throughout the entire construction period, including the defects liability (maintenance) period.
This is second project to be implemented by Eptisa in the country.
